Because of the pressure of material and contractor costs we were briefed by the Sanctuary team to refurbish 332 bedrooms and to reuse as much of the existing 18 year old furniture as we could. All of this project was completed in 8 weeks over the summer of 2024.
To transform the space whilst reusing as much of the original furniture as possible
The existing 18 year old furniture (not ours) was well made but the original cherry fronts were looking very dated / dark and along with the desktop were showing signs of wear and tear.
The original bed was 3 ft wide but had been replaced in recent years with a 4ft bed although this meant the original mirror was now behind the wider bed, with the original 3ft headboard and low level socket being awkward details
The pin boards were tired and dowdy
A new 'future proof’ 4'6" wide headboard unit complemented by factory recessed hidden fixing to the wall board.
All of the cherry fronts were replaced by denim blue which transformed the visual appeal
New Locarno cherry tops were installed to complement the original cabinet colour
Toughened glass blue noticeboards were fitted which bounced light around the room as well as matching the denim blue fronts
Longer mirrors were provided and positioned near the natural light and on a backboard for a more sophisticated look.
The project was delivered at about 30% of the cost of replacing all the furniture and delivered fantastic value for money.
“Our brief was to reuse as much of the existing furniture as possible. We managed to do this successfully whilst delivering an impressive and much improved facelift to all 332 bedrooms over just 4 weeks. And for about 30% of the cost of replacing all the furniture.”
